question- is it 6.5 inches from the top or 6.5 inches from the last increase? Thanks so much, this is adorable!
From the top
I'm having trouble with the eyes. On rounds 3 through 6 when it says repeat, is it repeat once or is it that you repeat to increase the number of each round by 5? It would help me a lot to know the total number of stitches in each round.
Yes for each rounds 3-6, for the eyes, repeat. For example, round 3, Work 1 sc in the next stitch, 2sc in the next stitch, then 1 sc in the next stitch, then 2 sc in the next stitch, keep doing that pattern for that round. Then start round 4, and repeat the pattern for the entire round similar to round 3.
Thank you for the pattern. I made it yesterday for my son. H decided he couldn't live without an angry birds hat.
love this hat! Can't wait to crochet for my boys!
Thanks for this pattern. I plan to make this for my 8 Y/O granddaughter who loves crazy hats.
Made this hat yesterday, changed it a little (used buttons on the eyes and made the eyebrow a monobrow) the kids LOVE it! Thank you!
I have a student that is 8 yrs. old and in his 4th round of Chemo. He is going to love this hat!
This is my first venture into crochet - my 3 year old son is so excited!
That is TOO CUTE!!!! Thank you for sharing!
Hi Amy, I love this hat & I have almost finished it. When I make the top head pieces do I join each round or not? Thanks.

No don't join just continue around with a sc until it reaches the desired length
Thank you so much for your pattern. I just finished making it for a little girl with cancer and it has been a big hit with everyone that's seen it so far. Again, thank you.
Aww shucks. I read your post 'Supplies:
I hook, H hook
Red, white, black, and orange Red Heart yarn' and went out and bought them. I get home, and read first instruction, and it says I need brown as well :( Now i have to go back to shops again :(
I've never crocheted a hat (just a beginner doing afghans) and I want to make this hat for my nephew who loves Angry Bird. Do you think it'll be difficult for me?
Maybe a challenge, but YouTube has good videos for making hats.
Thanks for a fast response Amy! I'll give it a try :)
Hi Amy, this is Barbara again. Sorry to bother you again but how many skeins of each color did you use? I'm planning to go to the yarn store today to get my supplies. Thanks!
I think just one for the the hat, one for the other colors
Hi Amy my little boy loves angry birds and id love so much to make him this hat!! I have never done crochet before - is there anything you can reccomend i watch on you tube etc before i make a start? Or any advice or tips you can pass on?
If you never crocheted before, then you need to learn the stitches, on YouTube you can type in single crochet, double crochet, and the stitches above. You can search how to make a crochet hat too. Takes practice, good luck.
what is and I hook and an H hook in mm. I am a beginner from Canada and the hook sizes are different here. Great hat can't wait to try it for my grandson, thanks for the pattern:)

Thanks for the pattern. I am at the ears and I am a bit lost on
ch 2. dc in the next 11 dc stitches, turn. -11 sts
Does this mean I go around the entire top first row of the hat in those 11 dc stitches? It doesn't look like it on the photograph but this is my first hat with ears and I am self-learning with the wonderful youtube. Thanks for this great pattern. My son will be getting it for christmas.
Leah
Earflap, just chain 2, then do one double crochet in the next 11 stitches, then turn, don't keep going, turn and do the next row
